Özet
Innovation is the basis of innovative policies in higher education. With the help of innovative policies implemented and steps taken, the existing structure is improved and innovative initiatives are introduced. This study uses spatial econometric methods to analyze the relationship between higher education and innovation. In the analysis, three separate models for bachelor's, master's, and doctoral graduates were created and the relationship between these variables and innovation was examined.The variables of patents, trademarks, and utility models were used to represent innovation. In order to determine the relationship between the existing variables and the developments in the process, the analysis was carried out using data from both 2008 and 2021. In the study, an analysis covering all 81 provinces of T & uuml;rkiye was conducted. In order to test the specified models, a classical multiple linear regression analysis was first performed. Then, the least squares error assumption results were subjected to identification tests. The identification tests showed that the appropriate spatial model is the spatial error model. In the final step, spatial maximum likelihood estimation was performed to determine the spatial error model. The analysis revealed a positive and significant relationship between higher education and innovation.
