dc.description.abstract1958’de Aaron B Lerner tarafından tanımlanan melatonin’in yaşlanma karşıtı etki, immün düzenleyici, onkostatik ve nöroendokrin fonksiyonlar gibi pekçok fizyolojik fonksiyonları vardır. Son yıllarda melatonin’in potent bir serbest hidroksil ve peroksil radikal tutucusu olduğu bildirilmektedir. Bu derleme yazıda, bir serbest radikal tutucusu olarak melatonin ve santral sinir sistemi patolojilerindeki rolünü inceledik.en_US
dc.description.abstractThe pineal hormon, Melatonin, which was described by Aaron B. Lerner in 1958, participates in many important physiological functions including neuroendocrine, oncostatic, immune regulatory and anti­aging,. Recently, melatonin was reported to be a potent free radical scavenger, being more potent in scavenging hydroxyl and peroxyl radicals. In this report, we reviewed the melatonin as a scavenger and its role in CNSpathologies.en_US
