dc.description.abstract | As cities grow, their morphological and spatial configurations undergo some changes. In this context, the integration of old urban areas with newly planned ones is important. This way, while the urban identity elements are protected, the sustainability of cities is ensured. This study examines what kind of changes the spatial characteristics of Gaziantep city have undergone with the zoning plans made throughout its history. Space syntax method was utilized to determine its spatial properties. With this method, the integrity values, intelligibility (INCO: Correlation Between Integration and Connectivity) and accessibility (INCH: Correlation of Between Integration and Choice) values of the zoning plans were examined. As a result of the study, when the intelligibility values were examined in the radius of Rn, it was found out that there was a weak relationship in the settlement plans of 1938 (0,22), 1955 and 1973 (0,05), 1990 (0,0007) and 2012 (0,0003). That is, the intelligibility levels were low. When the accessibility values in the radius of Rn were examined, it was found out that 1938 (0,42), 1955 (0,34), 1973 (0,3) settlement plans had moderate significance while 1990 (0,19), 2012 (0,13) plans had low significance. Consequently, it is observed that as the cities grow, the intelligibility and accessibility values are reduced in general. | en_US |
