The aim of this study is to determine the readability levels and word and sentence length of texts in I-V. grades Turkish textbooks. Taking this into account, readability ofsi xty five texts in five lesson books taught in 2010-2011 Teaching Year have calculated.Texts' readability levels were determined by using Atesman's formula - based on word and sentence length - which was adapted into Turkish from Flesch's Reading Ease Formula. The length of word and sentence and the readibility of texts in Turkish coursebooks are classified according to coursebooks as different grades and to being of informative and narrative.According to grade levels, it has seen that there are differences in word and sentences lengths, but concluded that there is a regular range in the readability level.en_US
