Özet

Plants rich in phytochemicals are used in the preparation of nanoparticles due to their strong antioxidant properties. Recently, nanophytopharmaceuticals are widely used in various drug delivery systems. It has wide acceptability due to its increasingly tested therapeutic values and minimal side effects. With the developments in biotechnology, genetics and combinatorial chemistry technologies, new, more powerful, and specific drug delivery systems have been designed in the last decade. Restrictions associated with traditional phytopharmaceuticals have been improved by designing and using "nanodelivery systems" (NDS). The most important feature of NDS is continuous drug release, target organ orientation, and improved patient compliance. Nanophytopharmaceuticals can be used to target a specific area of the body, which improves its selectivity, solubility, delivery, safety, and efficacy, thus the need for frequent high doses to be administered. They are not metabolized by stomach and liver enzymes and the drug circulates for a longer period of time. It suggests that phytopharmaceuticals with NDS will help in increasing the effectiveness of herbal medicines. © 2022 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. All rights reserved.
