Carl Schmitt is one of the most important political theorists of the 20th century that was the century of the wars and revolutions. The German Philosopher had joined to the National Socialist German Labor Party under the leadership of Adolf Hitler in 1933. Therefore his ideas had been lacking academic interest for a long period of time after the II. World War that was ended by the defeat of Nazi Empire. However starting from the end of the 20th century, Schmitt has been re-read/re-investigated, for different purposes, and has again become on the center of the academic interest by means of his "realist" ideas on the political logic of modern state, In this study, the German Philosopher's ideas regading the logic of the modern state has been discussed by investigating on the axis of the question of "Is the modern state inevitably, or in other words by nature, a totalitarian one?"
