Özet
Erbakan, who entered Turkey's political life in 1969, remained in active politics until he died in 2011 and became a ruling partner for a total of 4.5 years in his 42-year political life. He served as the prime minister for one year and as deputy prime minister for the rest of this period. Ruhullah Khomeini, on the other hand, took part in Iranian politics in 1963 and ruled his country for 10 years in his 26-year political life until 1989, when he died as the leader of the 1979 Iranian Revolution. The aim of the study was to examine the attitudes of Erbakan and Khomeini comparatively, two different figures who came to the fore as Islamist leaders in the same period in two neighboring but historically competitive Muslim countries, i.e. Turkey and Iran, towards the Palestinian problem they witnessed. In this context, the sources/causes, actors, and approaches of both leaders to the solution of the Palestinian problem were examined based on written and verbal sources. Thus, the differences and similarities between Erbakan and Khomeini's approaches to the Palestinian problem, an issue that has not been examined comparatively before, have been revealed practically, theoretically, and methodically. In addition, another important outcome of the research is that it was determined that they could not meet in a common perspective on Palestine, which seems to be a common problem of Islamist thought, in the context of at least the two leaders. The study also includes a discussion on the reasons for this situation. © 2024, Muhammed Mustafa KULU. All rights reserved.
