Özet

Abstract: In Turkey, nearly 6.7 million tones products were obtained from 67517 ha in vegetable greenhouses. Antalya has a remarkable capacity covering 50% of total vegetable production in Turkey. Tomato moth Tuta absoluta (Meyrick), cotton whitefly, Bemisia tabaci (Genn.), western flower thrips, Frankliniella occidentalis Pergande, aphids, Aphis gossypii Glover, Myzus persicae (Sulzer) and carmine spider mite, Tetranychus cinnabarinus (Boisd.) are main pests in Antalya province where mainly tomato, pepper, eggplant and cucumber cultivation is done. Biocontrol applications initially began by trials carried out at 10 ha pepper growing greenhouses in 2002. Amblyseius swirskii AthiasHenriot, Orius laevigatus Fieber, Aphidius colemani Viereck and Phytoseiulus persimilis Athias-Henriot have been used in practice for biocontrol of pests in pepper cultivation. The application area of biocontrol on pepper has reached 1019 ha in 2015. Biological control practices were secondly realized in tomato cultivation fields with 190.8 ha. Nesidiocoris tenuis Reuter and P. persimilis are generally used in biological control on tomato. Biologically, controlled areas has increased after the refunding of the biological control expenditures of growers by the government, these areas reached 1270.1 ha in 2015. Currently, biological control fields constitute about 5% of the total protected areas in Antalya. It is believed that, biological control area will increase and reach to double digits in further years. In this study, the development of biocontrol applications, research to practical applications, in protected fields was evaluated.
