Marcus Ulpius Trajan, the first emperor of Rome born outside Italy, is an important figure of the Roman Empire in terms of origin and identity. Although the date of birth and death are not known for certain, his educational life and youth years are limited as the ancient sources fall short. Although it is estimated that Trajan spent his teenage years with his father, he is expected to have the titles of vigintivirate, decemvirate and quaestor during his youth. After quaestorhood, he served as praetor. Trajan, of pleb origin, was appointed to upper Germania governorship, supported by Domitian and elected as consul and served in the highest authorities of the state. In addition, it is the military genius and fair attitude that made Trajan one of the remarkable figures of his time. Thanks to his honesty and warrior personality, he gained the confidence of the army and was adopted by The Emperor Nerva and declared as his successor. The imperial authority, which was shaken by the conquest of the throne, was improved by the personality and dignity of the Trajan. During his reign, he brought Rome to the widest borders of his history, established a foundation for contemporary legal rules and built architectural wonders during his reign. When he took over, he brought prosperity to the Empire, which fell financially, left the treasure in full, and became a source of inspiration for the emperors who came after him. In this study, not only the biography of Trajan was taken into consideration but also his political life was kept in the forefront. The examination of the Trajan, which is rare among Roman emperors, is of great importance in terms of understanding the second period of restoration of the Empire after Augustus. Keywords: Trajan, Roman Empire, Dacia, Parthia, Ulpius
