Özet
Günümüzde, kataliz kimyası, organometalik kimya ve bio-organometalik kimyada en fazla incelenen organometalik yapılar N-heterosiklik karben kompleksleridir. Güçlü elektron verici özellikleri ve karbon iskeletinin istenildiği gibi ayarlanabilir olması N-heterosiklik karben ligantlarının en önemli avantajlarıdır. Pd-N-heterosiklik karben kompleksleri ise kataliz alanında en fazla araştırılan N-heterosiklik karben kompleksleridir ve onlarca organik tepkimede başarılı şekilde uygulanmıştır. Kumarin ve türevleri uzun yıllardır çeşitli biyolojik aktivitelerinde dolayı ilgi ile araştırılmaktadır. Anti-koagülant etkileri nedeni ile klinik uygulamalarda ticari olarak kullanılmaktadır. Ayrıca, bazı foto-fizisksel özellikleri nedeniyle de çeşitli alanlarda araştırılmaktadır. Bu tez kapsamında, özelliklerinin araştırılması amacıyla kumarin grubu içeren benzimidazol temelli beş yeni Pd-N-heterosiklik karben kompleksi sentezlenmiştir. Sentezlenen kompleksler, tek kristal X-ışını kırınımı yöntemi, NMR ve IR spektroskopisi ve elementel analiz ile karakterize edilmiştir. Tüm komplekslerin fenilboronik asit ve arilbromür türevlerinin Suzuki tepkimesindeki katalitik aktiviteleri incelenmiştir.
Today, N-heterocyclic carbene complexes are the most investigated organometallic structures in the research areas of catalysis, organometallic chemistry and bio-organometallic chemistry and catalysis. Strong electron donor properties and tunability of carbon scaffold are the most important advantages of N-heterocyclic carbene ligands. Pd-N-heterocyclic carbenes are the most intensely investigated N-heterocyclic carbenes and have been applied succesfully in dozens of organic reactions. Coumarin and its derivatives have been investigated for many years due to their various biological properties. They have been used commercially in clinical applications due to their anti-coagulant effects. In addition, they have been investigated in various fields due to some of their photophysical properties. Within the scope of this thesis, coumarin-bearing and benzimidazole-based five novel Pd-N-heterocyclic carbene complexes have been synthesized to evaluate their properties. The structures of complexes have been established by X-ray single crystal diffraction, NMR and IR spectroscopic methods and elemental analyses. Catalytic activities of all complexes have been tested in Suzuki reaction of phenylboronic acid and arylbromide derivatives.
