Özet
This paper aims to discuss the right to development; which often pronounced along with human rights in recent years, yet remains as a debatable subject since its emergence. In doing this; the notions of development and the right to development will be briefly covered and the emergence of the right and background arguments will be laid out. Following to the historical evolution of the right, the 1986 United Nations Declaration on Right to Development and the definitions within this document will be analyzed. Since the debates regarding right to development are still present today; the last part of the paper will gather the criticism that exist in the literature towards the right, along with different approaches from the scholars.
