Background: The aim of this study is to examine the demographic and operational data of disabled patients who receive dental treatment under general anesthesia. Methods: In our study, demographic and operational information of 149 disabled patients in ASA 2 and 3 classification, who received dental treatment under general anesthesia at the University hospital were examined. The gender, age, operation time and procedures of the patients were examined. The systemic disorders and types present in the patients were calculated separately and given as a total number and a percentage. Descriptive statistics for data analysis were presented with mean and standard deviation values. Results: Of 149 disabled patients, 96 (64%) were male and 53 (36%) were female. 136 of the patients were in ASA 2 (91%) and 13 of them were in ASA 3 (9%). Average number of procedures per patient filling 8.38 ± 3.933 (total 1233), tooth extraction 4.80 ± 4.165 (total 615), amputation 1.64 ± 0.841 (total 23), fissure sealant was calculated as 4.12 ± 2.307(total 223). Mental retardation in 65 of the patients (43.62%), autism in 33 (22.14%), epilepsy in 36 (24.16%), down syndrome in 17 (11.4%), cerebral palsy in 16 (10.73%), 11 Cardiac problems were observed in, (7.38%), goiter in 4 (2.68%), and hydrocephalus in 3 (2.01%). Conclusion: There is a need for more studies that will enlighten the way of physicians in order to decide on conservative or radical treatment in dental treatment under general anesthesia, which is becoming increasingly common today. © 2023, Selcuk University.
