Özet
The purpose of thIs study was to investigate the ideas of educational administrators and parents on the subject of giving information to the parents about the school and school activities. The main problem of the study had been defined as fallows: 'What are the ideas of educational administrators and parents on the subject of giving information to the parents about the school and school activities, at the level of secondary schools in Diyarbaklr City?" The sample groups of the study consisted of 43 secondary school principals and assist principals, and of 623 parents in Diyarbaklr City. The instruments utilized for data collection, one of them for educational administrators and the other for parents, were developed by researcher. Also, some important data was collected trough the observation and interview techniques. AnalysiS of data revealed that; 1. It is seen that educational administrators do not consider import in practice on the subject of giving information to parents about school and school activities. Also, there is not any program on this subject. 2. The exsperienced educational administrators give more importance than others to the subject of inform ing parents about school. 3. The parents thing that the education depending on school system is absolutely a public duty, and all kinds of substructure and educational instruc-tlOnal condl lion in schools have to be prepared by state. 4. It Is seen, that there Is not systemal1c comm ln lcalion between parents and the parents, in r eal sense , are not a organized group. 5. Educational adm inistrators and parents have very different Ideas on some subjects. This sItuatIOn shows that there is not sufficient comrnlnicalion between educatIonal administrators and parents. 6. The activi l1es of the parent- teacher association wh Ich has 1m por tant duties on the subject of informing parents about school and school activities are insuffICIent. 7. It is seen that educational administrators and parents do not perceive the school as a SOC Ial system. From thi s pOInt of view, some of the activities that educational administrators have to perform are determined as fal lows: I. The educational admini strators should determine negJtiation of the time of some days wi th parents. 2. The educational admIni strators from lime to time should admini strate questionaire to parents related with their expectation and ideas connected w Iln school. 3. Educational adm inistrators should invite paren ts to school in order to fallow some educal10nal activll1es. 4. The scholl bullellins should be published periodically for informing parents about school. 148 As a result, it is seen that educational administrators do not perfom sufficient effort to clarHy parents about school and should not commlnlcate with parents. Furthermore, it is seen that parents should not take enough Information about school from educational adm Inlstrators. In order to make disappear these negations, not only educational administrators but also parents have to be educated on the subject of the parentschool relationships.
