Internal drainage of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) to the abdominal cavity via ventriculo-peritoneal (VP) shunt is commonly used for the treatment of hydrocephalus. Many types of shunt systems are available, but all are liable to complication. Some of these complications occur frequently and are therefore well known. However, there are other complications which occur rarely, including cerebrospinal fluid cyst in liver. We report a 15-year-old female who developed a CSF cyst in the liver due to mislocation of the peritoneal catheter which was successfully treated by simple repositioning. © 2004 Elsevier Ireland Ltd.
