Electrospinning technology has attracted much attention in recent years in many fields such as biomedicine, wound healing, drug delivery systems and the textile industry. The production of non-woven fabrics consisting of continuous and randomly spun fibres through the electrospinning process, a simple and economical method, has become widespread in the textile industry. Nonwoven textiles formed by the electrospinning process exhibit wide specific surface area and pore size compared to commercial textile products, making electrospun nanofibers suitable nanomaterials for use in the textile industry. In the textile industry, improving features such as dirt removal, improvement of dyeability, flame retardancy, UV protection, superhydrophobicity, antibacterial activity and protection are among the increasingly increasing activities today. In recent years, there has been interest in a new textile production combining metal and metal oxide nanoparticles and electrospun fibres. Unlike traditional methods, textile applications in which nanoparticles are integrated provide fabrics with several physical properties such as high durability, increased functionality and electrical and thermal conductivity. In this section, firstly, a general introduction to the electrospinning process and its application areas are briefly mentioned. Then, the methods of incorporating nanoparticles into the nanofiber structure are mentioned and their advantages and disadvantages in textile applications are discussed. In addition, in this section, literature studies in which metal and metal oxide nanoparticles are integrated with nanofibers are examined. As a result of the data presented in this context, we make suggestions on what the focus of future studies will be or which deficiencies should be eliminated. © 2026 Elsevier Ltd.
