Özet
In this study, the use of the word “erinç” in the Old Turkic and Middle Turkic period was examined. The meanings given in the source works of Turkic language are examined. An evaluation has been made considering the information given in the Turkic Language Dictionaries and the related dictionaries. The reasons for the change of meaning over the word have been given, and depending on these, it has been tried to explain the duality of certainty and probability in the word. In the statement, the available data for the root of the word was used as a basis and a qualified definition of the semantic field was aimed. © 2019 Hacettepe University 1. All rights reserved.
