Özet
Öz: Çağımızın gelişmiş toplum yapısı, enformasyon toplumu olarak nitelendirilmektedir. Teknolojik ve bilimsel gelişme, hızlı değişim ve dönüşüm özellikleri taşıyan enformasyon toplumu, sanayi toplumundan farklı paradigmalara dayanmaktadır. Günümüzün yükselen değerleri olan bilimsel bilgi, teknolojik gelişme ve hızlı değişim, formal eğitimin önemini artırmaktadır. Bireyin bu toplumsal aşamada arzu ettiği şekilde yaşayabilmesi, geçmişten daha fazla bilgi donanımına sahip olmasına bağlıdır. Bu nedenle, bireysel ve toplumsal yaşamı doğrudan etkileyen süreç olarak eğitime büyük roller düşmektedir. Bireyi ekonomik ve sosyal hayata hazırlayan kurum olan eğitimin üzerine aldığı işlevleri yerine getirebilmesi için dünyadaki gelişmeleri dikkate alması, kendini teknolojik ve bilimsel değişmelere uyarlaması gerekir. Nitekim, günümüzün güçlü ekonomik ve sosyal yaşantısına sahip ülkeler, tüm kazanımlarını eğitime verdikleri önem ve eğitim kurumlarını günün koşullarına göre yeniden yapılandırmalarına borçludurlar. Konuyu teorik açıdan değerlendiren bu çalışma, enformasyon toplumunun özelliklerini açıklayarak, enformasyon toplumunda eğitimin yeri ve önemi hakkında bir saptama yapmak amacını taşımaktadır.
Abstract: The developed society of today is identified as information society. Information society having the characteristics of technological and scientific development, rapid change and transformation depends on different paradigms than industry society. Today’s rising values; scientific information, technological development and rapid change increase the importance of formal education. Moreover, in order to make an individual live as the way he/she desires at this social phase, the individual should have much more information than the past. Therefore, education has a significant role on the individual and social life. Education preparing the individual for economic and social life should take into account the developmental changes in the world, and should adapt itself to these technological and scientific changes. Thus, today’s economically and socially powerful countries give great importance to their education and reconstruction of their educational system. This study evaluating the subject in theoretical framework, aims to make a determination about the place and importance of education in information society by explaining the characteristics of information society.
