Özet

In this study, the objective is to raise awareness about the importance of recording folk songs from the Bitlis region that are not currently part of the Turkish Radio and Television Corporation (TRT) Turkish Folk Music (TFM) repertoire. Additionally, the recorded folk songs were analyzed in terms of maqam, style and genre, and relevant data were revealed by identifying the musical characteristics of the region. In this research, which was conducted in the culture analysis design, qualitative research methods were used to reveal the data. As the result of the data analyzed by descriptive analysis, it was concluded that three of the 6 folk songs were under the influence of uşşak, one karcığar, one hüseyni and one çargâh maqam, two of them had 4-time main usul, two of them had 5-time compound usul, and the other two folk songs had 10-time mixed usul, in addition, 5 folk songs were in the folk-dance genre and 1 folk song was in the traditional dance music genre. Based on the conclusion that the identified folk songs have been passed down from ear to ear in the region and reached to the present day, it is thought that recording activities are important in terms of not forgetting these folk songs and transferring them to future generations. From this point of view, some suggestions have been presented that the recording of folk songs should be handled with great care, especially by official institutions. © 2023, Tolga Karaca.
