| dc.description.abstract | N-heterocyclic carbenes (NHCs) and the metal complexes bearing these ligands have been studied effectively in many fields such as organometallic chemistry, catalysis and pharmaceutical chemistry for the last 30 years. The stable complexes formed by NHCs with many metals and their stability against air and moisture have supported their widespread use in many applications. The effectiveness of metal-NHC complexes in catalytic applications is also of great importance. The C-C coupling reactions, arylation, amination, transfer hydrogenation, alkylation and olefin metathesis are some of these catalytic applications. In recent years, in addition to the effectiveness of catalytic applications, parameters for green chemistry such as gained importance. In this chapter, an overview of C-H activation methods supported by palladium complexes containing NHC ligands was presented in the literature covering the last ten years. Moreover, C-H activation methods catalyzed by metal-NHC complexes other than palladium were also briefly mentioned. © 2024 Elsevier Inc.
