Özet

An analytical model is developed to predict the elastic stress response of a thick-walled cylindrically curved panel subjected to a radial temperature gradient under the assumption of generalized plane strain. The ends of the panel in the angular direction are guided by rigid supports that allow a displacement in the circumferential direction but fix the curvature of the middle surface. As thermal load is applied to the panel, couples act on those ends, giving rise to pure bending conditions even in the case of homogeneous heating. Moreover, the free ends in the axial direction of the panel are taken into consideration. The stresses caused by different types of steady-state thermal loads in the panel are analyzed. Further, the elastic limits leading to plastic flow according to the yield criteria of both Tresca and von Mises are investigated. The results are presented in graphical form.
