| dc.description.abstract | İlkel toplumların oluşturduğu yerleşimlerden günümüz modern kentlerine kadar insanların fiziksel, kültürel ve ekonomik yönden pek çok aktivitede bulunabildiği mekânlar olarak meydanlar, sahip oldukları fiziksel ve toplumsal özellikleriyle kentlerin kimliğini yansıtan önemli bir kamusal dış mekânlardır. Meydanlar, kent içinde çeşitli etkinliklerin gerçekleşmesine olanak sağlayan geniş toplanma alanları oldukları için, kentte pek çok insanı çeken odaklar oluşturmakta, dolayısıyla belirtilen sosyal katkıların sağlanmasında kentsel mekânlar arasında önemli bir paya sahip olmaktadır. Ancak kentte yer alan meydanların istenilen katkıları sağlayabilmeleri için, kullanıcıların gereksinimlerini karşılayan nitelikli mekânlar olarak düzenlenmesi gerekir. Bu sayede meydanlar kullanılan yerler olabilecek ve belirtilen sosyal katkılara en üst düzeyde ulaşılabilecektir. Çevrelerindeki yapılar ve farklı düzenlemeleri ile meydanlar, kent içinde bir simge oluşturarak, kent kimliğine katkı sağlar. Bu kapsamda değerlendirilen Sivas Kent Meydanı Sivas kenti için, geçmiş tarihlerden günümüze kadarki süreçte tarihi, idari, sosyal ve fiziksel yönden merkez konumundadır. Çalışmanın amacı Sivas Kent Meydanı’nın geçirdiği değişim ve dönüşümün incelenmesi ve kent merkezi ve meydan kuramları paralelinde doğru değerlendirmenin yapılabilmesidir. | en_US |
| dc.description.abstract | Thanks to their physical and social characteristics, squares where people join many activities in terms of physical, cultural and economic aspects from settlements of primitive societies to modern cities within the system of public outer spaces are spaces reflecting the identity of cities. Squares attract many people as they are wide assembly areas enabling various activities to take place. For that reason squares among the urban environments have a significant role in supplying mentioned social contributions. But for the squares within the cities to enable the desired contributions they should have been arranged as qualified residences meeting the demands of the beneficiaries. By this way squares shall be places used by people and shall be able to reach the highest level of mentioned social contributions. Squares together with the structures in their surroundings and different arrangements contribute to the city identity by forming a symbol in the city. Sivas evaluated in this context, the city square for Sivas historically, socially and physically from the past to the recent times. The aim of the study is to investigate changes and transformations that Sivas city square has witnessed and to understand and to state evaluation of the square through the theoretical discourses on the city centers and squares. | en_US |
