Abstract:
The study aimed to explore ninth grade students’ views about healthy
nutrition by using draw and write technique. Study group consisted of 94
female students enrolled in a Vocational and Technical Anatolian High
School in Marmara Region in Turkey. Data were collected by using draw
and write technique. Data were analyzed by using content and descriptive
analyses techniques. Study results revealed that the students described that
healthy nutrition as consuming various nutrients in a balanced way and
adequately, eating food three times a day regularly, eating healthy food
and abstaining from unhealthy food. However, some students had incorrect
information about healthy and unhealthy food, and also healthy and
unhealthy beverages. While some students defined processed meat
products, fried potatoes, margarine, and ready raw meatball as healthy
food, some students regarded meatballs, onions, bean meals and rice are
unhealthy foods.
