Aim: This study was conducted to determine the effect of sleep hygiene education given in line with the health promotion model on sleep quality and menopausal symptoms. Method: The study was conducted as a randomized controlled trial with 70 menopausal women aged 45-59 years enrolled in a Family Health Center in eastern Turkey (35 experimental, 35 control). Data were collected using the Personal Information Form, Menopausal Symptoms Rating Scale (MRS) and Pittsburg Sleep Quality Index (PSQI). Women in the experimental group received sleep hygiene training in 2 sessions 2 weeks apart. No intervention was given to the control group. In addition to descriptive statistics, Pearson' schi-square test, t-test for dependent and independent groups, and ANOVA analysis were used to analyze the data. Results: The mean pretest scores of the women in the experimental and control groups, who were between the ages of 45-59 years during menopause, were statistically similar (p>0.05). After the sleep hygiene education, it was determined that the menopausal symptoms of the women in the experimental group decreased statistically significantly and sleep quality increased statistically significantly compared to the control group (p<0.05). Conclusion: In this study conducted on menopausal women, it was concluded that sleep hygiene education decreased menopausal symptoms and improved sleep quality. Keywords: Health promotion model, Menopausal symptoms, Midwife, Sleep quality.
