dc.description.abstract | We advocate the use of Daubechies wavelets as a basis for treating a variety of problems in quantum field theory. This basis has both natural large-volume and short-distance cutoffs, has natural partitions of unity, and the basis functions are all related to the fixed point of a linear renormalization group equation. | en_US |

dc.description.sponsorship | This work was supported in part by the U.S. Department of Energy, under Contract No. DE-FG02-86ER40286. The authors would also like to thank Professor Robert Perry for useful discussions on the similarity renormalization group method and Professors Andreas Schaefer and Mikhail Altaisky for bringing our attention to some applications of wavelets in quantum field theory. | en_US |
