Özet
Bu çalışma karakter eğitiminin kavramsal boyutunu bir örnek üzerinden incelemeyi amaçlamıştır. Bu amaç çerçevesinde Amerika merkezli düşünce paradigmasının önemli temsilcilerinden biri olan Thomas Lickona'nın düşüncelerini ve eserlerini merkeze almıştır. Lickona'nın karakter gelişimine ve eğitimine dair görüşleri de kendi çalışmalarından hareketle ortaya konmuştur. Çalışma nitel araştırma desenlerinden, durum analiz ve doküman inceleme yöntemleri kullanılarak oluşturulmuştur. Bu doğrultuda Thomas Lickona'nın eserleri merkezinde yardımcı kaynaklar da ele alınarak doküman incelemesi yapılıp durum analiz yöntemi ile olguların ortaya konması amaçlanmıştır. Çalışmanın sonucunda düşünürün karakter eğitimine dair geliştirdiği görüşler ortaya konmuştur. Özellikle kolektif bakış açısı ile karakter eğitiminde toplumun tüm kesimlerine düşen görevler aktarılmıştır. Bununla birlikte teorik, pratik ve dini yansımasında oluşabilecek sorunlara da yer verilerek eleştirel bakış açısı geliştirilmiştir. Sonuç olarak Lickona'nın karakter eğitimine dair görüşleri bütüncül bir şekilde ortaya konmuştur. Anahtar Kelimeler: Karakter Eğitimi, Karakter, Okul, Thomas Lickona.
This study aims to examine the conceptual dimension of character education through an example. Within the framework of this purpose, it has centered on the thoughts and works of Thomas Lickona, one of the important representatives of the American-centered thought paradigm. Lickona's views on character development and education are also based on his own work. The study was designed using case analysis and document analysis methods from qualitative research designs. In this direction, it was aimed to reveal the facts with the case analysis method by conducting a document analysis by considering the auxiliary sources in the center of Thomas Lickona's works. As a result of the study, the thinker's views on character education were put forward. Especially the collective perspective and the duties of all segments of society in character education were conveyed. In addition, a critical perspective has been developed by including the problems that may occur in theoretical, practical and religious reflection. As a result, Lickona's views on character education are presented in a holistic manner. Keywords: Character Education, Character, School, Thomas Lickona.
