Özet
In this study, it was investigated the extraction of humate from of low-quality lignite samples obtained from Arguvan (Malatya) coal deposit. The raw coal (i.e. unwashed coal) and washed coal samples with different specific gravity, that they were obtained from sink-and-float test, were used in the extraction experiments. Each coal sample was individually leached in alkaline media prepared using NaOH and KOH. After undissolved residues were removed using a centrifuge, humic substance was precipitated by addition of concentrated hydrochloric acid, and than it was dried and weighed to determine the weight percentage of humate. California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) method was used for the extraction of humates. Finally, influence of coal washing on the humate extraction was discussed by comparing the weight percentage of humates for unwashed (raw coal) and washed coal samples. According to results, the highest percentage of potassium humate was around 8- 9% and for 14-15% for unwashed and washed coal with a specific gravity of 1.5-1.6, respectively. It has been indicated that coal washing has a positive effect on the humate extraction. Copyright © IMCET 2019 International Mining Congress and Exhibition of Turkey. All rights reserved.
