Özet
Bu aratırmanın amacı, Osmanlı İmparatorluğunun varoluu süresince yetitirdiği bestekâr
padiahlar arasında, Batılı müzik formlarında beste yapmı ilk padiah olan Sultan Abdülaziz’in,
Batı sanatlarına mesafeli duruuna ve bu duruunu icraatlarıyla belgelemesine rağmen, salon
müziğinin Batılı örneklerinden hiç de aağı kalmayan piyano parçaları besteleyebilmesinin
sebeplerini incelemektir. Ayrıca bu çalımada Sultan Abdülaziz’in belli bir dönemde Batı
sanatlarına karı olumlu bir tavır almasının sebepleri de incelenecek, Sultan Abdülazizin sanatçı
kiiliği hakkında daha önce bu konuda yapılmı çalımalar temelinde daha derinlemesine bir
aratırma yapılacaktır. Aratırmanın yöntemi olarak niceliksel aratırma modellerinden “Tarihsel
Model” kullanılmıtır. Aratırmada Sultan Abdülaziz ve makalede adı geçen, konuyla bağlantılı
ahsiyetler hakkında kaynak taraması yapılmı, kitaplar, dergiler, makaleler, bildiriler, tezler ve
müzik CD’lerinden elde edilen veriler yorumlanmıtır. “Valse Davet” adlı parça ise tür, form,
armoni ve melodik yapı açısından incelenmi, parçanın sanatsal niteliği ve Sultan Abdülazizin
bestecilik konusundaki yeteneği değerlendirilmitir. Aratırmada Sultan Abdülaziz’in Batı müziği
ve tiyatroya olumsuz bir tavrının olduğu doğrulanmı ancak bu tavrının Avrupa seyahati
sonrasında yumuamı ve bu sanatlara önem vermeye balamı olduğu çıkarımı yapılmıtır.
Yaptığı Batılı formdaki bestelerin ise, Avrupa seyahati öncesinde içerisinde yaadığı müzik
ortamının, kendisinde bulunan özel yeteneği ortaya çıkartma fırsatı sunmasıyla mümkün olduğu
sonucuna varılmıtır.

The purpose of this research is to analyse the reasons, how Sultan Abdulaziz -who was the first monarch who composed some piano pieces in western forms, among the composer Sultans of Ottoman Empire- could compose his piano pieces which are very close to its Western models of entertainment music in terms of quality, despite his negative attitude to western arts which he proved through his administration practices. Furthermore, in this research, we will be examine the reasons of Sultan Abdulaziz’s changing attitude towards western arts in positive manner and we will investigate Sultan Abdulaziz’s artistic personality on the basis of previous studies about this topic. The “Historical Model” was used as the research method of this article. In this research, we combed through the resources on Sultan Abdulaziz and the other people who are related to topic. The knowledge obtained through books, magazines, articles, papers, theses and music compact discs have been interpreted. The musical piece that called “Invitation to the Waltz” has been analyzed in terms of genre, form, harmony and melodic structure, the artistic quality of the piece and Sultan Abdulaziz’s compositional skills have been evaluated. In the research, Sultan Abdulaziz’s negative attitude towards western musical arts and drama has been proved but it has been infererred that his negative attitude has been moderated and he has begun to give importance to western arts. Also it has been concluded that his compositions in Western musical forms could be implemented thanks to his musical environment that provided him the opportunity to reveal his special ability.
