Bu araştırmanın amacı; ana dili eğitimi-öğretiminde ve okuma sürecinde önemli bir yere sahip olan yazınsal nitelikli çocuk edebiyatı eserlerinin 7. sınıf öğrencilerinin empati becerisinin gelişmesine etkisini incelemektir. Araştırmada ayrıca çalışma kapsamında okutulan eserlerdeki empati durumlarını tespit etmek, tespit edilen empati durumları ve okutulan eserler hakkında öğrenci görüşlerini ortaya koymak amaçlanmıştır. Bu araştırmada, nicel ve nitel veri toplama tekniklerinin bir arada yer aldığı, araştırma sonuçlarını bütünleştiren karma desen kullanılmıştır. Çalışmanın nicel bölümünde gerçek deneysel desenlerden "öntest-sontest kontrol gruplu seçkisiz desen" örneği, nitel bölümünde görüşme ve doküman incelemesi yöntemine başvurulmuştur. Araştırmanın çalışma grubu, 2017-2018 eğitim-öğretim yılında Van ili Tuşba ilçesindeki iki ortaokulda öğrenim görmekte olan 7. sınıf öğrencilerinden seçilmiştir. Çalışma grubu, basit seçkisiz örnekleme yöntemi kullanılarak belirlenen iki farklı ortaokulda öğrenim gören 60 öğrenciden oluşmaktadır. Araştırma kapsamında veri toplama aracı olarak araştırmacı tarafından geliştirilen "Kitap Okuma Etkinlik Formu", "Eserlerle İlgili Öğrenci Görüş Formu", "Empati Durumlarıyla İlgili Öğrenci Görüş Formu" ve Kaya ile Siyez (2010) tarafından geliştirilen "KA-Si Empatik Eğilim Ölçeği Ergen Formu" kullanılmıştır. Araştırma verilerinin nicel analizinde verinin yapısı göz önünde bulundurularak parametrik testlerden bağımlı ve bağımsız gruplarda t-testleri kullanılmıştır. Analizler SPSS 22.0 paket programı kullanılarak yapılmıştır. Araştırma verilerinin nitel analizinde içerik analizi çeşitlerinden duygusal yön analizi kullanılmıştır. Bu araştırmanın sonucuna göre deney grubunun ön testlerinin ve son testlerinin empati eğilim puanları arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir farklılık olduğu tespit edilmiştir [t(29) = -2.185, p < .05 (p = .037). Araştırma grubundaki öğrencilerin çoğunluğu okutulan eserlerle ilgili olumlu görüş belirtmiştir. Çalışma grubuna okutulan eserlerde toplamda 149 empati durumu tespit edilmiştir. Bu empati durumlarıyla ilgili görüşlerine başvurulan öğrencilerin %81'i tespit edilen empati durumlarını doğru bulduklarını gerekçeleriyle birlikte ifade etmişlerdir. The purpose of this research is to investigate the effect of literary children's literature works which have an important place in mother tongue education and reading process on the development of empathy skills of 7th grade students. The aim of the study was to determine the empathy status of the works within the scope of the study and to reveal the opinions of the students about the empathy and the works. In this study, a nested mix design that integrates quantitative and qualitative data collection techniques and integrates the research results is used. In the quantitative part of the study, interview and document analysis method was used in the qualitative section while the sample was the incel pretest-posttest control group random pattern em. The study group of the study was selected among the 7th grade students who were studying in two schools in the district of Tusba, Van in the 2017-2018 academic year. The study group consisted of 60 students studying in two different secondary schools determined by simple random sampling method. As a data collection tool; u Book Reading Activity File tır, "Student Opinion Form Si, u Student Opinion Form Siy and Görüş KA-Si Empathic Tendency Scale Adolescent Form u developed by Kaya and Siyez (2010) were used. In the quantitative analysis of the data, t-tests were used in dependent and independent groups. The analyzes were performed using SPSS 22.0 package program. Content analysis and emotional direction analysis were used in the qualitative analysis of the research data. According to the results of this study, it was determined that there was a statistically significant difference between the pre-test and post-test empathy tendency scores of the experimental group [t (29) = -2.185, p <.05 (p = .037). The majority of the students in the research group stated positive opinions about the works. A total of 149 empathy cases were determined in the study group. 81% of the students whose opinions on these empathy situations are considered, have stated that they found the determined empathy status correctly.
