Düşünce tarihinde uzun bir geçmişe sahip olmakla birlikte sürekli aktüel kalan bu nedenle de tekrar tekrar ele alınıp incelenmeyi gerektiren birçok felsefi ve teolojik problem vardır. Bu problemlerden biri şüphesiz ki kötülük problemidir. Çünkü yeryüzünde acı ve üzüntü kaynağı olan ve "kötü" diye nitelendirilen olguların varlık nedeni ölüm ötesi hayatta karşılaşılacak sıkıntı ve dertlerin hikmeti, düşünen insanın zihnini sürekli meşgul etmektedir. Kötülük problemi ile ilgili tartışma zenginliği, bizi hayrete düşürmemelidir. Unutulmaması gerekir ki söz konusu problem, felsefe ve teolojinin en eski ve en köklü belki de en çok da itiraza neden olan problemidir. İnsanlık tarihi boyunca filozofları ve din adamlarını düşündürmüş, meşgul etmiş problemlerden biridir. Kötülük probleminin bu kadar önemli oluşu, bizi bu konuda çalışmaya iten başlıca sebeplerden biridir. Din felsefesinin en çok tartışılan konularından biri olan kötülük problemini bu çalışmamızda İslam felsefesinin önde gelen ismi olan İbn Sînâ 'ya göre açıklamaya çalıştık. İslam felsefesinde, özellikle Meşşai felsefesinde, bu problem ele alınmış ve derinlemesine tartışılmıştır. İbn Sînâ bu konuya en iyimser yaklaşan filozoflardan biridir. İbn Sînâ 'ya göre kötülük kemâlin yokluğudur. Kötülüğün kendi başına "salt" bir varlığı yani ontolojik gerçekliği yoktur; çünkü kötülükle yakın alâkası olan maddenin varlığı, zaten müstakil bir varlık değildir. İbn Sînâ, dünyada gördüğümüz kötülüklerin, iyiliklere nazaran daha az ve ârızî oluğunu vurgulamaktadır.
There are many philosophical and theological problems that have existed for a long time in the history of thought and remain relevant to this day thus need examining. One of them is undoubtedly the problem of evil. Because the existence reasons of these phenomena that are sources of pain and sorrow, and the mystery of the distress and trouble which will be encountered in the afterlife constantly occupy the thinking human mind. Discussion diversity of the problem of evil should not surprise us. It should not be forgotten that this problem is the most profound and maybe the most opposed problem of the philosophy and theology. It is one of the problems that have occupied the minds of the philosophers and theologians. Importance of the problem of evil is one of the essential reasons that push us to study on this subject. In this study, we examined the problem of evil, which is one of the most discussed subjects of religion philosophy, according to prominent figure of Islamic philosophy, Ibn Sînâ. This problem has been examined in a detailed manner in the Islamic philosophy, especially in the Peripateticism. Ibn Sînâ is the most optimistic philosopher that has examined this subject. According to him, evil is the absence of perfection. The evil is not a "pure" entity because the existence of a material related to evil is not a separate entity. Ibn Sînâ emphasizes that there is less evil in the world compared to goodness and that the evil is accidental.
