ÖZET İslâm öncesi Arap yarımadasında kadınlar, kız çocukları, köleler ve maddi olarak zayıf olanlar ikinci sınıf insan durumundaydılar. Câhiliye döneminde erkek sayısının fazlalığı gücü temsil etmekteydi. Savaş ve baskında erkeğe olan ihtiyaç çok fazla idi. Kabileler arası baskın ve savaşlarda kadınlar savaşabilecek durumda değillerdi. Üstelik kabilenin yenilmesi ile kadınlara köle olarak el konulması kadının kabilesi için utanç verici bir durumdu. Kız çocuklarının ve kadınların herhangi bir baskında karşı tarafın eline geçmesi namus meselesi haline gelir ve kaybeden kabile için büyük utanç meselesi olurdu. Bu yüzden doğan her bir kız çocuğu potansiyel utanç meselesi demekti. İslâm'ın gelişiyle beraber kadın insan olması hasebiyle erkek ile aynı yere konumlandırılmıştır. İslam'dan önce mal gibi mirasa konu olan kadın artık mirasta pay sahibi olmuştur. Sosyal hayattan izole edilen kadın Peygamber (s.a) döneminde oldukça aktif olmuştur. Çocuk öldürmek her kabilenin her üyesinin uyguladığı bir durum olmasa da, Kur'ân'ın bu duruma karşı çıkışı bize bu sayının göz ardı edilemeyecek kadar fazla olduğunu göstermektedir. Kur'ân, kız çocuğu sahibi olan babanın yüzünün aldığı hali tasvir ederken yaptıklarının yanlış olduğunu ve çocuklarını öldürenlerin ciddi bir ceza ile cezalandırılacaklarını belirtmektedir. Allah, hem çocukların hem de çocuklarını öldüren ebeveynlerin rızıklarını kendisinin verdiğini hatırlatmaktadır. Çocuk öldürme olgusu genel anlamda yoksulluk ve namus endişesi yüzündendi. Bundan başka dinî gerekçeler, sosyal hayattaki baskı ve doğan çocuğun kusurlu doğması da çocukların öldürülmeleri için yeterli sebep olabilmekteydi. Allah, Kur' ân'da kız çocuğunun öldürülmesini sert bir dille eleştirmekte, bunu yapanların kesinlikle cezalandırılacaklarını bildirmektedir.
ABSTRACT On the pre-Islâmic Arabian peninsula, women, girls, slaves and materially weak were second-class people. The surplus of men in the male-dominated society represented power. The need for men in war and raid was too much. Women were not in a position to fight in tribal raids and wars. Moreover, the defeat of the tribe and the confiscation of women as slaves was a shame for the tribe. It would be a matter of honor for girls and women to fall into the hands of the other party in any raid and would be a matter of shame for losing tribe. That's why every girl born was a matter of potential embarrassment. With the advent of Islâm, it is positioned in the same place because of the fact that it should be human being. Before Islâm, the women, which was the subject of inheritane like property, has now become an individual who can take part in the inheritance. İsolated from social life, the woman was very active during the Prophet time. Some of the rights Islâm brings to women are material, while others are related to the fact that it is an individual who can make her own decisions, most importantly to protect the right to life of a girl, even if only some tribes are practicing. Some tribes (girls) children were not wanted for fear of hunger. While killing children is not the case for every member of the tribe, the Qur'an's opposition to this situation shows us that this number is too much to ignore. The Qur'an states that what he did was wrong when Allah portrayed the face of the father who had a baby girl, and thah those who killed his children would be punished with a serious punishment. Allah recalls that Allah gave the sustanence of both the children and tha parents who killed their children. Child killing was mainly due to poverty and honor. However, the child's imperfect birth was alsodue to religious ans social reasons. In the Qur'an, Allah strongly criticizes the killing of a girl and declares that those who do so will be punished.
