Bu çalışmada 10-19 yaş arası (ortalama 13.9) 959 orta ve lise öğrencisinde varikosel prevalansı araştırıldı. Asemptomatik sağlıklı erkek öğrenciler fizik inceleme ve doppler ultrasonografı (USG) incelemesi ile değerlendirildi. Fizik inceleme ile 298 (%31), doppler USG ile 308 (%> 32.1) varikosel olgusu saptandı. Fizik inceleme ile varikosel saptanmayan olguların 169’unda (%23.7) doppler USG ile varikosel bulundu. Doppler USG ile varikosel saptanmıyan olguların 139’unda (%56) fizik inceleme ile varikosel saptandı. Varikosel saptanan olguların 154’ünde (%51.6) sol, 25’inde (%8.3) sağ ve 119’unda (%39.9) bilateral varikosel bulundu. Yine olguların %75.5’inde Grade I, %18.1’inde Grade II ve %6.3’ünde Grade III varikosel tespit edildi.
In this study we investigated the prevalence of adolescent varicocele in 959 school boys, between 10-19 years old. Asymptomatic healthy male students were evaluated by physical examination and scrotal doppler ultrasonography. Varicocele was found as 31% (298 boys) and 32.2% (308 boy's) by physical examination and doppler USG examination, respectively. Doppler USG was positive in 23.7% (169 boys) on whom physical examination was negative. In 56% (138) of the boys, physical examination findings were positive whereas doppler USG examinations were negative. Of the boy's varicocele found, 154 (51.6%) had left varicocele, 25 (8.3%) had right varicocele and 119 (39.9%) had bilateral varicocele. Of the total varicoceles found, 225 (75.5%) were Grade-I, 54 (18.1%) were Grade-II and 19 (6.3%) were Grade-III.
