Bu çalışma, bir giriş ve iki bölümden oluşmaktadır. Çalışmanın birinci bölümünde imtihan ve imtihan kavramıyla ilişkili olan belâ, fitne, musîbet kavramlarının lügat anlamları ile Kur'ân'da hangi anlamlarda kullanıldıkları üzerinde durulmuştur. Buna göre çalışmada, "altının ya da gümüşün saf hale getirilmesi maksadıyla ateşe tutulması" anlamındaki imtihan; "denemek, imtihan etmek, musîbet, yıpranmak, eskimek" anlamındaki belâ-ibtilâ; "imtihan etmek, delirmek, dalâlete ve günaha düşürmek, yakmak, ateşe atmak, baştan çıkarmak, küfür, nifak, bir şeyden vaz geçirmek, hayrette bırakmak, meftûn olmak" anlamındaki fitne; "isâbet etmek, atmak, sözün isâbet etmesi, kararda istikrarlı olmak, hatanın zıttı " gibi manalara gelen musîbet kavramlarının Kur'ân'da hangi anlamda kullanıldıkları örnek âyetlerle açıklanmıştır. İkinci bölümde ise Kur'ân'da zikredilen ve bütün insanların karşı karşıya kalabileceği imtihan türleri ile peygamberlerin karşı karşıya kaldıkları imtihan türleri üzerinde durulmuştur. Genel anlamda insanların karşı karşıya kaldığı imtihan türleri olarak açlık, korku, can ve malın eksiltilmesi, cihat ve sabır, maddî ve manevî nimetler, sıkıntı ve musîbetler, hayır ve şer, iyi amel yapıp yapmama ve başka insanlarla imtihan edilme konuları âyetler ışığında açıklanmaya çalışılmıştır. Kur'ân'da birçok peygamberin kavmiyle mücadelesinden ve yaşadığı sıkıntılarından söz edilmekle birlikte bazı peygamberlerin ayrıca farklı imtihanları tabî tutulduklarından da söz edilmektedir. Bu bağlamda Âdem'in yasak ağaç ile İbrâhim'in oğlunu boğazlama emri ve ateşe atılmak ile İsmail'in boğazlanmak ile, Yakub'un oğlu Yûsuf'tan uzun süre uzak kalmakla, Yûsuf'un kardeşlerinin ihaneti ve iftira ile, Davud'un hüküm verme ve saltanat ile, Süleyman'ın saltanat ve varlık ile, Eyyub'un hastalık ve çeşitli musîbetlerle, Yûnus'un kavmini terk etmesi sonucu cezalandırılmakla özel manada da tabı tutuldukları imtihanlarının mahiyeti üzerinde durulmuştur.
This study consists of an introduction and two sections. Inthe first section, trial and its other related terms, which are trouble, sedition and calamity were discoursed with their dictionary meanings and other meanings which used in the Quran. This study explained key words with different meanings which used in the Quran with sample verses. In this sense; examination (trial) means that "keeping gold or silver towards fire to make them pure". Trouble means that "try, examining, disaster, wear out, and become old". Sedition means that "examining, going crazy, to commit a sin, fire, to throw oneself into the fire, entice, swearing, faction, to dissuade doing something, to amaze and be captivated". Calamity means that "hit the mark, throw, say a mouthful, being consistent on decision and opposite of mistake. In the second section, two examinations (trials), which are all people and prophets could be exposed to these two types, were mentioned in the Quran. In general meaning, we tried to explain examination (trial) types which people encounter with guidance of the Quran verses. Examination types are hunger, fear, casualty, lack of goods, jihad, patience, materially and spiritually blessings, problem and calamities, good and evil, doing good deeds or not and being examined with other people. In the Quran, many prophets tried to contend with some problems, and had difficulty with their people were mentioned. Along with these difficulties, some prophets had also exposed to different trials as mentioned in the Quran. Correspondingly;-Prophet Adam with the forbidden fruit three, Prophet Abraham withsacrificing his son and himself to be throw into fire, Prophet Ishmael with sacrificing his life to Allah, Prophet Jacob with staying away from his son Joseph for a long time, Prophet Joseph with betrayal of his brothers and theirs` slander, Prophet David with adjudication and sovereignty, Prophet Solomon with sovereignty and wealth, Prophet Ayyub with disease and kinds of calamities, Prophet Jonah with punishment because of abandoning his people- in these examples prophets were also under trails.
