Özet

The main purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between the level of cognitive awareness and academic motivation of middle school students. In the study, the correlational and causal comparison model was used. The study population consisted of 32516 students in secondary schools in Malatya province. Yesilyurt and Battalgazi Merkez districts and in 2017-2018 academic year, the sample consisted of 400 students determined by easy accessibility method. Sampling method of the study was based on the method of easy accessibility. The first part of the measurement tool used in the research consists of the demographic information of the participants. In the second part, the two-dimensional (metacognitive knowledge and metacognitive) developed by Sperling, Howard, Miller and Murphy (2002) translates the Turkish version of the tarafından metacognitive awareness inventory version B for young people, into Turkish. and Aydın and Ubuz (2010) 's Metacognitive Ability Inventory. In the third part of the study, iler Academic Motivation Scale asyon developed by Bozanoğlu (2004) was used in order to determine the academic motivation levels of secondary school students. Some of the findings obtained from the study are; There is a low level and meaningful relationship between the students' metacognitive awareness levels and their academic achievement in a positive, low level and meaningful relationship between academic motivation levels and the time spent on social media in a negative way, with a low level and a meaningful relationship. It is stated that there is a high and significant relationship between the two groups.
