In this study, it is aimed to reveal the antecedents and consequences of digital addiction based on the results of previous research. Metasynthesis method was used in this research, which deals with the antecedents and successors of digital addiction. Previous studies on digital addiction were reached by scanning the databases of YÖK National Thesis Center, Google Scholar and DergiPArk. While scanning, the keywords digital addiction, smartphone addiction, internet addiction, social media addiction, digital game addiction, television addiction were used. As a result of the search, a total of 479 studies, including 230 master's and doctoral theses and 249 articles, were reached. As a result of the evaluation made within the framework of inclusion and exclusion criteria, a total of 258 studies, including 178 theses and 80 articles, were included in the research. As a result of the research, it was concluded that the antecedents of digital addiction were gathered under the themes of family, environment, personal, purpose and form of use, school variable, other addictions, digital devices, digital applications, home environment, social network and time for different activities, while the consequences of digital addiction were the environment and family. It was concluded that relations with people, healthy, psychological factors, school life, frequency of access to digital tools and networks and cyberbullying were gathered under the themes. In addition, each theme contains different variables within itself. The research results provide a comprehensive framework for the factors that cause digital addiction and the consequences of digital addiction, based on empirical research results. In studies and intervention programs, it is recommended to focus on personal factors and family-related factors as a precursor to digital addiction, followed by psychological factors. © 2023en_US
