Özet
Celiac disease is seen in approximately 1% of the world. Being Gastrointestinal System (GIS) problems at the fore, celiac disease is being associated with many conditions related to; neurology, psychiatry and immunology. Considering the extraintestinal problems it may cause, the motor skills and attention levels of individuals with celiac disease may be affected. In the research, the motor skill levels of celiac disease patients and healthy individuals aged 22-60, who had no additional neurological or orthopedic problems, were evaluated with the ‘Timed Up and Go Test’and ‘Timed Stair Climbing Test’, and their attention levels were evaluated with the ‘Adult Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder Self-Report Scale’. The average age of the groups was similar (p>0.05). Among the motor skill evaluation, Stair Climbing Test was found to be statistically significant (p<0.05). When the results were examined according to the Adult Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder Self-Report Scale, a numerical difference was found between the groups, but there was no statistically significant difference (p>0.05). According to our study, motor skill impairment is observed in individuals with celiac disease. In future studies, individuals with celiac disease should be evaluated in larger sample groups and more holistically. © 2024, Inonu University. All rights reserved.
