Özet
This study, prepared to reveal the current status of disaster and emergency gathering areas, their availability during disasters, and their place in the spatial identity of the city, includes survey results based on 120 individuals from 12 different gathering areas in the Battalgazi district. Among the participants, 92 people have lived in Malatya for more than 10 years, while 28 people stated they have lived in Malatya for 4 years or less. However, despite the long duration of residence, the number of people aware of the gathering areas was limited to 35. Similarly, it was found that the participants utilized the gathering areas at a very low level following the earthquakes on February 6. Among the reasons for this, 61% of participants considered the gathering areas inadequate for meeting their basic needs, did not see them as disaster-ready spaces, and noted a lack of distinguishing features (71%). © (2025), (Afet ve Acil Durum Yonetimi Baskanligi (AFAD)).
