Three hundreds and sixty seven usable responses were obtained. The coverage (response) rate was 81.0%. Results: Two hundreds and cleven211 personnel (57.5%) had performed at least one kind of physical activity during the month preeceding the survey and 156 personnel (42.5%) had not performed any. The most frequently performed physical activity was walking done by 65.4%. The most frequent reasons for not performing any activity were; having no time, social barriers, and having a disease, respectively. Only 70 personnel (19.0%) out of all had performed physical activity regularly. Regular physical activity level was higher among those who were 40 years old and older, and who have hypertension or high cholesterol (p<0.05). Conclusion: Mainly health workers and the mass-media should take on the function of educating the public about health related benefits of physical activity.
