Özet
The Eastern Anatolian Region of Turkey has many seedling-grown apricot populations exhibiting a large variation for major horticultural characteristics. More than 1000 hybrids were evaluated for identifying superior table and drying apricot genotypes mainly for yield and quality characteristics. The region with emphasis on Malatya, Erzincan, Sivas, Elazig was preliminarily investigated. About 350 trees were identified for further horticultural studies. Among these, three early, three late and four mid-season accessions were identified for their superior table apricot characteristics while three drying genotypes were selected as well. Among the selected accessions, fruit weight ranged from 25.8 to 72.6 g while soluble solids contents ranged from 16.6 to 24.1%. Fruit development period varied from 78-82 days among early accessions up to 160-171 days among late genotypes. Drying efficiency ranged from 27.5 to 29.6% among the drying apricot accessions.
