Values are considered fundamental elements that directly influence individuals’ social cohesion, cultural affiliation, moral development, and identity formation. While these values vary across eras and societies, each society has its own unique set of values and a value system built upon them. In its 2017 updated curriculum, the Ministry of National Education (MEB) identified several common ethical principles, based on the historical and cultural foundations of the Turkish nation, that combine individual personal development with social integrity. These ‘core values’, listed as justice, friendship, honesty, self-control, patience, respect, love, responsibility, patriotism, and helpfulness, are considered behavioral patterns that must be internalized through experience in educational processes. These identified values have been placed at the core of the updated curricula and implemented at all educational levels. Effectively teaching values and transmitting them to future generations is possible not only through the transfer of theoretical knowledge but also through linking these values to the historical and cultural resources of society. Alevism-Bektashism is both an important element of Anatolian and Turkish culture, and a belief and way of life that embodies national and universal values. Alevi classics and related literature, especially the original texts of Hacı Bektaş Veli, are directly related to current philosophical and ethical values. This study examines the ten core values identified by the Ministry of National Education (MEB) and their counterparts in Alevism-Bektashism doctrine and related literature, and establishes the relationship between these values and local and cultural sources. This study, based on a qualitative research approach, employed a conceptual and interpretive method, analyzing concepts found in Alevi-Bektashi classic texts in relation to the core values identified by the MEB. © Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International (CC BY-NC 4.0)
