Analysis of computer and ınstructional technologies students’ academic success in ınternet-based programming course in terms of their learning styles

Özet
Bu çalışmada Bilgisayar ve Öğretim Teknolojileri Eğitimi Bölümü Öğrencilerinin İnternet Tabanlı programlama dersinden aldıkları notlar ile öğrenme stilleri arasındaki ilişki ve öğrenme stillerine göre değerlendirme sınavlarının türünden (uygulamalı - klasik) aldıkları puanlar incelenmiştir. Araştırma 2012-2013 ve 2013- 2014 yılında İnternet tabanlı programlama dersini almış 60 öğrenci üzerinde yürütülmüştür. Veri toplama aracı olarak Kolb Öğrenme Stilleri Envanteri (Versiyon 3.0) kullanılmıştır. Verilerin analizinde frekans, yüzde ve tek yönlü varyans analizi teknikleri kullanılmıştır. Araştırma bulgularına göre en öğrencilerin sahip oldukları öğrenme stilleri çoktan aza doğru sırasıyla ayrıştıran (% 41,7), özümseyen (% 35), değiştiren (%13,3), yerleştiren (%10) şeklinde bulunmuştur. Öğrencilerin sahip oldukları öğrenme stillerine göre vize, final ve ortalama not puanları arasında anlamlı fark bulunmamıştır. Vize sınavında öğrencilerin öğrenme stillerine göre not ortalamaları çoktan aza doğru sırasıyla ayrıştıran, özümseyen, yerleştiren, değiştiren şeklinde iken final sınavında yerleştiren, ayrıştıran, özümseyen ve değiştiren şeklinde olmuştur
In this study, relationship between grades that students of Department of Computer and Instruction Technology get from the internet-based programming language course and their learning styles and according to their learning style, scores that these students get from assessment exams types (classical and practical exams) was investigated. Study was carried out on students that taken the internet-based programming language course in 2012-2013 and 2013-2014. Kolb Learning Inventory (Version 3.0) as data collection tool was used. Techniques of frequency, percentage and ANOVA were used for data analysis. According to research results, learning styles of students were found as converging (% 41,7), assimilating (% 35), diverging (%13,3), accommodating (%10). The results indicated that there was no significant correlation between learning styles of students and their midterm, final, and end-semester points. Learning styles of students were found as converging, assimilating, diverging, and accommodating from more to less for midterm exam and as accommodating, converging, assimilating, and diverging for final exam, respectively.
