Özet
In this descriptive study it was aimed to determine the knowledge levels and attitudes of the students studying at Inonu University Health Services Vocational School about herbal products. An online questionnaire was administered to the participants, which included questions about their sociodemographic characteristics and knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors about herbal product use. The data were evaluated with the SPSS 27.0.1 package program by using number, percentage calculations and chi-square test. 201 of the participants were women (76.1%). It was observed that 179 (67.8%) of the students did not receive any course/training on medicinal plants/herbal products. A significant positive correlation was found between the people who took the course/training and the number of plants they could identify (p˂10-6). Participants stated that the most common sources of information about herbal products were the Internet (79.2%), school (28.4%), and elder relatives or acquaintances (27.7%). 213 of the participants (80.7%) were using herbal products for any purpose, and the majority (78.88%) of the users were women. In addition, a significant relationship was found between taking lessons/training on herbal products and using them (p˂10-6). It was observed that the herbal products used were mostly obtained from herbalists (60.56%). The most common usage purposes were determined to be cold (61.03%) and immune strengthening (55.40%). As a result, it has been observed that the use of herbal products is common among university students, and their knowledge level and use of herbal products increase if they are educated about medicinal plants/herbal products. © 2023, Inonu University.
